Adult Learn to Row - Sweep
Location
Duration
Fall Program
TBD
Commitment
Monday and Wednesday: 5:30pm - 7:00pm
(Attendance is not mandatory, however, with large boats it is very important to be present as much as possible in order to fill said boats and support the group. An 8+ can’t go out on the water with just six people!)
Experience
No previous experience is required. This is a learn to row program so we recommend individuals with less than a year of experience or athletes with previous rowing experience who are returning after a long hiatus.
Fees
TBD
Our Adult Learn to Row - Sweep program will primarily feature practices on the rowing machines (or ergs), in addition to technical exercises on the water. Water practices will be in large, team shells (eights and/or fours).
This program is open to rowers above the age of 18 with little to no experience. Athletes are required to be fully vaccinated in order to participate in this program without a mask.
FAQs
Do I need to know how to swim?
Yes, it is vital all of our athletes know how to swim. For our athletes who aren’t completely comfortable with swimming/being around water, we require a life jacket to be worn during practice.
What should I wear to practice?
Clothes that are breathable and not baggy are the best for rowing. The seats inside a rowing shell (and the seat on the erg) are on a sliding track, where baggy clothes easily get caught on. As for shoes, sneakers and socks! There are shoes inside the boat, shared by everybody, so we require our athletes bring a pair of socks.
Do I need to come to every practice?
Nope! We highly recommend perfect attendance (I mean who doesn’t) but we understand our athletes have work, lives, and other hobbies. As a curtesy to our coaches and other participants, we do require our athletes to notify us when skipping a practice in their regular schedule.
