Join us for a workout!
These Sunday morning workouts will be hosted on the rowing machines (or ergs). Our Downtown Rowdown sessions are both cardio and technique-focused, led by a certified indoor rowing coach. Practices are broken into 4 different time slots, each a 30 minute workout, so you can pick the time that’s best for you.
The erg provides a safe, approachable way to introduce rowing to a group of people who are unfamiliar with the sport. Our goal with this program is to make rowing more accessible, less intimidating to newcomers and much easier to commit to then one of our larger programs.
Join us for a great full body workout and the best view of Richmond!

What to bring
WATER! Hydration can make or break a workout, it’s vitally important to keep those fluids coming when you’re sweating it out. While we will have extra water bottles on hand, we recommend our participants bring their own (be kind to the planet, bring a reusable bottle).
What to wear
Tops: Anything breathable that isn’t low hanging and doesn’t bunch at the hips. When rowing you are on a sliding seat, so any loose-fitted clothing can easily get caught and torn. Layer up when it’s chilly!
Bottoms: Same deal as the tops, form fitting works best. Bike shorts without the padding or leggings are perfect examples of what to wear (we’re big fans of spandex).
Shoes: Socks and sneakers!
Sunscreen: This one’s on you, but of course we highly recommend UV ray protection. Sunburn leads to dehydration, which makes working out a whole lot harder (and even less fun).
